The former Liverpool manager admits coming back to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, remarked that returning someday is an option. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell which brought Champions League success and the Premier League crown for three decades, currently occupies roles overseeing worldwide football within the Red Bull organization and as an advisor to Germany's league body.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
The club claimed the Premier League in the previous campaign, but many fans who adore the manager would be thrilled by the idea that he may eventually return. During an extensive chat, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I won't manage any other side on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...absolutely. In theory, it could happen.”
“Being 58, so the choice could be mine in a few years, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on which situations would need to occur to draw him back to management, Klopp admitted he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, My present work fulfills me,” he stated. “I don’t miss coaching; No desire to be in the rain for lengthy sessions; No need for interviews multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the players having a nice chat, that’s nice. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits at the club. Remaining with me is Van Dijk's laughter in my ear as an instance.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly of the current boss, praising him for the adjustments that took the title last campaign. The team has suffered a string of losses in all competitions after a summer spending spree, yet he dismissed the idea of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if spoken against. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good balanced team. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for the Late Forward
Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, and its impact for the team. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision alongside his brother recently.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding the player himself, his personality mattered. I can’t imagine the dressing room absent his presence. Putting it into words is tough on this topic. A profound tragedy for all the boys as well. No one within the club will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where his spirit remains. Dealing with that on a personal level is challenging. Overwhelming.”
