Paceman Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Concerns.

'Serious blow' for the English camp after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.

The pace bowler added to the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the playing area on the second morning of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson experienced discomfort in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over during the morning session.

The England team indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time off the field for further assessment "during the day".

The final Test in this Ashes battle in Sydney begins this coming Sunday.

England have previously lost key quicks one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury during this series.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time in the opening two Tests, managing only a handful of scalps.

He was omitted for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman as one of just three England players who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.

Unfortunately, towards the conclusion of the fifth over, he delivered a slower ball to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

The English bowler was brought back for the Melbourne match after being left out of the third.
