Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Gives New England Route to AFC East Lead - Best of NFL Week 10

Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a major surprise for the Bills proving the 'any Sunday can bring surprises' saying that draws so many people into the National Football League
That result could have created opportunities for the Patriots to creep back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a remaining games that provides them an advantage over their 8-2 competitors
Meanwhile in the NFC the Seahawks and Rams had ideal outcomes to arrange a monster clash next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Simply an Off Day for Buffalo?
Could it simply have been an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs last week or something more? This remains the question for the Bills to answer
The Bills had won seven in a row against Miami but were second best from the start as the Miami team ran out 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP Josh Allen only got the squad's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the final quarter - admittedly Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was still a significant failure laid by one of the NFL's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua threw two scores but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 total yards and two scores
Bottling up the NFL's top running game was crucial too, with James Cook and teammates recording just 86 yards, their fewest of the year and just over half their 161.5 yard average
Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Allen in particular. An interception in the end zone resulting in a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that Miami converted to seven points just later
It was classic 'old Buffalo' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Allen attempting to overcompensate to rescue his squad out of it - rather than the composed, controlled, balanced Bills we've seen this year
The Dolphins have demonstrated a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on whether this is the start of a trend, but for the Bills they'll need an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay in week 11 as the New England are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - New England Identify Route to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the Patriots, they're one of three eight and two teams in the league, all American Football Conference teams, but could they be the best?
You can find flaws in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for dominating the lesser sides, with just five of their combined 24 victories achieved against opponents with a winning record - and one example was the Colts beating the Denver
The Broncos beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can ride Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their prime time win in Buffalo seems like a declaration
Their two defeats occurred in new head coach Vrabel's initial three games, with seven straight wins, just like the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to get ready was huge
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he certainly earns point for bravery after absorbing some hard tackles in Tampa but persevering to guide his team to victory
The defensive unit is solid and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson exploded on game day with 147 yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22mph this year on his initial touchdown
While you can argue who 'the best' is technically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the best record thanks to their schedule - which includes just one game against a winning team, albeit a huge one against the Bills
Traveling to Baltimore is also tough, but the Broncos have it even tougher in the AFC West division with the Kansas City to play twice, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also challenge for first place but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Packers on the fixture list
The Colts also face the Chiefs, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the 5-4 Jacksonville to face. There is a long way to go but the door is open for a shock top seed in the AFC
Next Week - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Clash
Both squads with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West opponents the Seahawks and Los Angeles, who each put up forty points to go to 7-2 ahead of the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the pair in Los Angeles
They've both secured four victories in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Matthew Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an high standard (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with top receivers, and defensive units giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Both could realistically be without a loss as well - especially the Rams as their two defeats came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that agonising loss in Philly when they had a game-winning kick with the last kick deflected and run back by the Eagles for a score
The Seahawks were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are truly two of the top teams in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year to date
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor might be on for a record season after his incredible display in Berlin - running for 244 yards, scoring three touchdowns and adding another 42 {receiving yards
